Important Drought Information
You may be aware that the UK is experiencing prolonged dry weather, causing significant drought in some parts of the country.
ESP has implemented Temporary Usage Bans across several regions following the bans introduced by regional incumbent water companies.

Anglian Water Region
In addition to the Temporary Usage Bans, Anglian Water have issued communications to further support the recovery of river and reservoir levels in the Norfolk and Norwich areas.
A Temporary Usage Ban (hosepipe ban) remains in place, and we are asking all customers in this region to further reduce their water use and use water only for essential purposes wherever possible.
Without a significant reduction in demand across the area, there is a risk that local water supplies could become affected.
How You Can Help
We appreciate that what is considered “essential” may vary from household to household. However, we ask customers to avoid non-essential water use wherever possible.
Examples of activities you should consider stopping temporarily include:
- Watering gardens, lawns and outdoor plants.
- Filling or topping up swimming pools and ornamental ponds.
- Using vehicle washing equipment.
- Washing cars, vans, motorbikes, caravans or boats.
- Cleaning windows or other outdoor surfaces.
Additional Ways to Reduce Water Use
Every litre saved helps protect water supplies and the local environment. Simple actions can make a real difference:
- Take shorter showers. Try limiting your shower to the length of one song.
- Reuse water where possible, such as using cooled cooking water on plants.
- Fix leaks around your home. A leaking toilet can waste up to 400 litres of water every day.
- Only run washing machines and dishwashers when full and use eco settings where available.
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or washing your face.
