Sustainability isn’t just a commitment. It’s our responsibility.
Earlier this year, ESP launched our inaugural Sustainability Report representing a statement of intent, now and for the future, on how our business will continue to champion innovation with purpose across our utility services and offerings.
Sustainability is the foundation for our future, at ESP.
We’re dedicated to adopting and operating heat, electricity, clean and wastewater networks across the country. We believe in building resilient, eco conscious utility networks whilst being transparent in how we track our progress and report on how we’re reaching our goals.
We’re proud to have adopted over a million connections across the UK, powered by our sustainable practices. Now and for the future, accountability is integral for how we deliver these connections, aligned to ESPs three key pillars: Sustainability, Diversity and Responsibility.
Sustainability
We’re investing in resilience and innovation, for a secure and greener future. We’re developing modern, reliable and efficient networks that support the UK’s transition to greener energy solutions. From supporting increasing nationwide demand for EV charging sites through our #GetConnected programme, or implementing SUDs (sustainable drainage systems), our wide range of initiatives not only reduce environmental impacts but also position us as leaders in creating a sustainable energy landscape
Our sustainability strategy is designed around essential initiatives that bring environmental, social, and economic benefits to everyone and, leave an impactful legacy for the future.
Diversity:
We are dedicated to being a diverse and inclusive employer, investing in our people through various learning programs, management training, and fostering a culture that celebrates diversity.
ESP recognises how a diverse workforce can drive innovation and creativity – essential factors for our future success. Our customers, too, play a key role in our commitment to diversity.
We’re set to launch our Think Customer Campaign later this year, an initiative grounded in our fundamental values to prioritise our customers varied needs.
Our objective is to ensure transparent and targeted communication with all customers, while continually upholding professionalism and respect.
Responsibility:
We are investing in our community by engaging with local charities and implementing robust governance processes to ensure we conduct our business ethically and responsibly.
This includes recognising the impact of fuel poverty by introducing social tariffs, as well as ensuring initiatives to reduce excess energy consumption are in place across our independently owned networks.
Maintaining a centralised register within ESP enables enhanced service for vulnerable customers.
Householders can also join ESP’s Priority Services Register, which offers a heightened level of service during power outages.
