About ESP

ESP Utilities Group is one of the UK’s largest and longest established Independent Gas Transporters (IGT) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNO), which means we own and operate gas and electricity networks, as well gas smart meters.

ESP owns and operates the network that brings energy to your homes and businesses. It’s made up of thousands of miles of pipes and cables. Enough, in fact, that if you stretched it all out it could reach to the moon and back. We have over 700,000 customers, connected on a variety of residential, industrial and commercial networks across the UK. We have over 20 years’ experience in the industry and always put the safety of our customers and engineers first.

As a network owner and operator, we are responsible for maintaining the network, and repairing any faults that cause interruptions to supply as quickly and safely as possible.

Ofgem is the industry regulator that licences us as a Gas Transporter and an Electricity Distribution Network Operator.

For more information about the energy sector, you can visit Ofgem’s website.

Your energy supplier is the company you choose to buy your electricity and gas from, and who you pay your bills to. Part of what you pay to your energy supplier is given to us to run and maintain the pipes and cables in your area. As your energy network, we are responsible for making sure you have a safe and reliable energy supply, and for making sure your lights stay on.

ESP will only be able to advise you who your gas or electricity supplier is if we own the gas or electricity network you are connected to. Please have your Meter Serial Number to hand (this can be found on your meter) and get in touch with us via the online form or call us on 01372 587 500.
